The iPad 3rd generation, also known as the iPad 3, was announced by Apple on March 7, 2012. It features a Retina display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and is powered by Apple's A5X chip with quad-core graphics. The iPad 3 also introduced support for 4G LTE connectivity.
Other key features of the iPad 3rd generation include a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera capable of recording 1080p HD video, a front-facing camera for FaceTime calls, and up to 10 hours of battery life. It was also available in both Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + Cellular models.
The iPad 3 was compatible with iOS 5, which brought features such as Notification Center, iMessage, and iCloud integration. However, the device eventually received updates to newer versions of iOS, with the latest supported version being iOS 9.3.5.
The iPad 3 was discontinued by Apple in October 2012 with the launch of the 4th generation iPad.
